Mets Host 3rd Annual Star Wars Stands Up To Cancer At Citi Field

The Rebel Alliance joined forces with the Evil Empire to Stand Up to Cancer. The New York Mets teamed up with Lucasfilm Ltd. to host the third annual Star Wars Night at Citi Field on Tuesday, July 23 when the Mets hosted the Atlanta Braves.

Tickets were available online at Mets.com/starwars and certain tickets included an exclusive Master Met Jedi bobble head and a $5 donation to Stand Up To Cancer, a movement created to accelerate groundbreaking cancer research that will get new therapies to patients quickly and save lives.

Darth Vader, Jedis and several Stormtroopers were on hand for the night, and fans dressed up as their favorite Star Wars characters for a costume contest.

There was also a Star Wars trivia contest during the game with Star Wars prizes compliments of Lucasfilm and other sponsors.

Star Wars fans throughout the ballpark stood up for the bottom of the second inning to raise awareness for Stand Up To Cancer and recognize that in the U.S., cancer claims the life of one person every minute of every day. Major League Baseball is a lead donor of the organization.
